Abstract

709,217. Hoists. KING, Ltd., G. W. April 24, 1952 [June 15, 1951], No. 14262/51. Class 78 (5) A power-operated hoist of the kind described in Specifications 557,040 and 683,967 having chainguards 10 adapted, when displaced for example by twisting of the chain 11, to operate by means of the lever 13, the control switch of the motor driving the hoist sprocket 12, is provided with pivoted members 16 each including a dependent portion 17 disposed adjacent the chain 11 which, on contacting an element on the chain at a predetermined point in its travel, are pivoted to effect displacement of the guard 10 so as to operate the switch controlling the hoist motor. As shown a pair of spaced parallel members 16 pivoted at 15 to the hoist frame have welded to their lower portions U-shaped members 17, the chain 11 passing between the depending extremities of the member 17. A limit attachment on the hook sprocket frame on coming into contact with the members 17 imparts an angular movement to the members 16 which by means of the links 18 is transmitted to the chainguard 10.
