Abstract
305,715. Drewry, J. S., and Shelvoke & Drewry, Ltd. Nov. 11, 1927. Operating doors by treadles.-In dust-carts and like vehicles having a number of doors on one or both sides of the vehicle, each of the doors is operated by a separate treadle member mounted in bearings on or adjacent to the underside of the vehicle body and connected by a chain or cable with the shaft which actuates the door. As shown, each of the doors 5 is connected to the ends of side links 8 mounted on a shaft 9, a projection 12 on the shaft for each door being connected by a chain 13 with a treadle 14. When a treadle member is depressed the links 8 are raised to lift the door above its opening in the vehicle, the lower end of the door having rollers 6 movable in guides 7. Weights or springs that are preferably attached to the treadle frames may be provided to counterbalance the weight of the doors.
