Abstract

681,040. Machinery guards. KING, Ltd., G. W. May 29, 1951 [June 1, 1950], No. 13741/50. Class 80 (iv). [Also in Group XXX] That part of the chain which passes over the sprocket wheel 11 of a hoist is guarded by two curved and channelled arms 10 each of which is carried by two links or two pairs of links, 14, 15 pivoted to the frame 18 at 17, 20 respectively. Should the chain come off the sprocket at one side an arm 10 is bodily displaced against the action of a pair of springs 21 tying the two arms together and a switch 22 is released to break the circuit of the driving motor. One channelled arm only may be employed, the springs 21 then being anchored to the frame 18.
