708,813. Portable containers; packaging. LYONS & CO., Ltd., J., and WHITE, P. Dec. 7, 1951 [Dec. 7, 1950], No. 29987/50. Classes 66 and 94 (1) A container for transporting liquids comprises an outer rigid drum or barrel 1 and an inner flexible bag 6 having an elongated neck 6a through which the bag can be filled and emptied, the extremity of said neck 6a being capable of being hermetically sealed as at 6c by the application of heat and pressure. The top of the barrel 1 is closed by an annular disc 2 having an opening 3 formed with an upstanding flange 4 and large enough to permit entry and exit of the flexible bag 6 when in a collapsed condition. The opening may be dosed by spinning or welding the edge of a disc 5 around the rim of the flange 4. The outer barrel 1 may be used indefinitely and the inner bag, which is made of plastic such as polyvinyl chloride, may be used until successive sealing and opening operations have considerably shortened the neck 6a. A fresh neck 6a may then be applied by heat sealing to the bag 6 if the condition of the latter warrants it.
