708,479. Photographic developing compositions. ILFORD, Ltd. March 24, 1953 [April 4, 1952], No. 8697/52. Class 98(2) A highly concentrated aqueous liquid developer comprises essentially a 1-aryl-3-pyrazolidone and a polyhydroxybenzene having hydroxy groups in o- or prelationship, potassium carbonate, and an alkali metal or ethanolamine sulphite, and optionally also an antifogging agent such as benztriazole and an organic solvent such as methyl or ethyl alcohol, or ethylene glycol or its monomethyl ether. In an example, a concentrated aqueous developer includes 1-phenyl-3-pyrazolidone, potassium carbonate, hydroquinone, sodium sulphite, potassium bromide, and optionally benztriazole. The sodium sulphite may be replaced by potassium sulphite. Specification 542,502 is referred to.
