Abstract
The invention comprises piperidyl alkyl ketones of the general formula <FORM:0707853/IV (b)/1> in which R is an alkyl group having at most 5 carbon atoms, and their preparation by reacting an alkyl magnesium halide having at most 5 carbon atoms with a functional derivative of 1-methyl-4-thienyl(21)-piperidine-4-carboxylic acid. In examples: (1) 1-methyl-4-thienyl(21)-4-propionyl-piperidine is prepared by the action of ethyl magnesium bromide on 4-thienyl(21)-4-cyano-1-methylpiperidine; (2) thienyl-acetonitrile is condensed with dimethylaminoethyl chloride to give a ,a -bis-(dimethylaminoethyl) - a - thienylacetonitrile which is heated to split off trimethylamine and yield 1 - methyl - 4 - thienyl(21) - 4 - cyano - piperidine which is then reacted with n-butyl magnesium bromide to give 1 - methyl - 4 - thienyl(21) - 4 - valerylpiperidine. The 1-methyl-4-thienyl (21)-4-cyanopiperidine may also be prepared by condensing thienylacetonitrile with N,N-bis-(b -chlorethyl)-methylamine in the presence of sodium amide.
