Abstract

706,247. Two-part couplings. BUSCHJAEGER LUDENSCHEIDER METTALLWERKE AKT.-GES. Aug. 18, 1952 [Aug. 25, 1951], No. 20726/52. Class 38 (1) A five-pole socket comprises a cover 11 with an integral flange 13 and a substantially-square base plate 1 carrying live contacts 3 .. 6, and an earth contact 9 raised above the others and so constructed as to receive a flat earth pin. An apertured cap 2 enclosing the contacts has a protuberance 7 which accommodates the earth contact 9 and is adapted to engage a depression 8 in a corresponding plug. Two, three, four or five pole plugs may be employed with the socket, the contact 6 acting as a neutral contact, and in order to ensure that the correct plug only for each combination can be inserted corresponding studs (such as 15) and recesses in the flange are provided on the plug and socket respectively. The plug may be locked in place by a bolt, or the plug and socket screwed together by a union ring. Packing may be provided between the cap 2 and cover 11 to render the socket watertight. '
