Abstract

767,844. Two-part couplings. PLESSEY CO., Ltd. June 23, 1955 [June 24, 1954], No. 18513/54. Class 38 (1). In order to ensure correct mating of a plug and socket, each is provided with a spring- loaded key 13 comprising a hexagonal portion 13a and a half shaft portion, and is partially withdrawable against spring 16 by means of a tool inserted in a bore 14 so that the keys may be rotated to the required position relative to the contacts in the plug and socket. A fluidtight seal is formed round ribs 9 of the contacts by resilient discs 10 which are compressed between insulating plates 2, 6. The socket is mounted on a panel 17 by nuts 19, and the plug screwed to the socket by a ring 20. The keys may also serve as contacts, for example earth contacts, and the hexagonal portions may be replaced by portions having more or less sides corresponding to the number of contacts.
