Abstract
Oxines are obtained by treating amines in which a primary amino group is attached to a p- or s-carbon, with hydrogen peroxide in presence of tungstates uranates, or molybdates or their per-salts, and amine-salts. In suitable conditions, amine-oxime addition products may be separated out, and decomposed to give the oximes. In examples, isopropyl-amine, n-butylamine, benzylamine, and cyclohexylamine are oxidized with hydrogen peroxide in presence of sodium tungstate, sodium molybdate, and a uranium per-acid solution, to give the corresponding oximes. The alicyclic omega-ketoximes may be converted into o -lactams after dehydration, via the Beckmann transposition.
