Abstract
705,003. Discharge apparatus. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FILS. Feb. 5, 1952 [Feb. 22, 1951], No. 3055/52 Drawings to Specification. Class 39(1) [Also in Group XXXVI] A joint between metal envelope parts, or ceramic parts, or between either of these and a glass part, is made by coating the non-glass part with a thin film of glass or vitreous enamel, polishing to an optical finish the surfaces to be joined, pressing them together, and heating sufficiently for molecular diffusion to occur without melting. The pressure may be applied mechanically, or by evacuating the envelope. The surfaces to be joined may be planar or curved; the invention may be applied to both butt and lap joints in radio-tubes, photocells, or cathode-ray tubes. Two metal envelope parts joined by an insulating layer according to the invention may be used as a condenser. Specifications 611,649, [Group XXIII], and 699,651 are referred to.
