Abstract

704,965. Cooling towers. FILM COOLING TOWERS (1925), Ltd., BRANCZIK, K. W., and BRANCZIK, E. A. C. Nov. 16, 1951 [Nov. 24, 1950], No. 28853/50. Class 64(1) To prevent freezing or to effect thawing of water-cooling towers, water is directed into the cooled water descending the tower, from spaced spray pipes 19 on a circumferential conduit 18, at positions above the top of the air-inlet openings 17 and below the level at which the water to be cooled enters the tower, a valve or valves being provided to control the amount of warm water supplied. The water to be cooled enters the tower from a central pipe 16 or from an external trough 23 and the water for the conduit 18 may be drawn from this supply through a pipe 20 controlled by a valve 21 or a pipe 24 controlled by a valve 25. The conduit 18 may be in sections separately supplied and controlled.
