Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it easy to prevent the freezing of cooling water by a method wherein a two-way temperature adjusting valve is provided in a cooling water circulating pipe connecting the cooling tower and a condenser and in case the temperature of the cooling water is below a predetermined temperature, the temperature adjusting valve is opened and the cooling water is bypassed to flow directly into a water tank.
CONSTITUTION: The water tank 3 and a cooling fan 4 are provided at the lower portion and at the upper portion, respectively, of the cooling tower 1 filled with a filler material 2. Further, a sprinkler 5 is provided above the filler material 2 so that the cooling water from the condenser flows from a return pipe 6 to the sprinkler 5 through the temperature adjusting valve 7 and a rising pipe 8. The temperature adjusting valve 7 is of two-way type and is arranged below the filler material 2 in the water tank 3. The circulating water is sprayed on the filler material 2 from the sprinkler 5 to exchange heat with the filler material 2 and the heat is radiated from the condenser. In this case, the temperature of the cooling water falls below a predetermined value, the temperature adjusting valve 7 is opened and the cooling water is bypassed to flow into the water tank 3 directly so that the cooling water is prevented from freezing because of being cooled more than as required.
