Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the time required for defrosting a cooler of a hot gas type freezer, by improving the heat distribution of the hot gas.
CONSTITUTION: Hot gas flowing in a by-pass pipe 15 during defrosting is distributed to each heating section 16 for heating the air inlet side of a cooler 10. After being exchanged its heat, the hot gas is distributed to each distributing pipe 9 through a distributor 8 and flows through each refrigerant pipe 18 from the air outlet of the cooler 10 toward the inlet side. This means the hot gas with a large radiating force is distributed to each heating section 16 for firstly heating the air inlet side of the cooler 10 where most of frost is developed, thus making the frost easy to fall off, and then the relatively hot gas after heat exchange at each heating section 16 is distributed to each cooling pipe 18 and evenly sent from the air outlet to inlet of the cooler 10. This system can improve the heat distribution both at the inlet and outlet and heat the cooler 10 from both sides effectively to reduce the time required for defrosting.
