Abstract

PURPOSE: To melt frozen ice in a cooling water tower by supplying the water of a tank of the cooling water tower to a plant system, prior to the start of normal operation, while, on the other hand, supplying the water returning from the plant system to the lower tank and thereby raising the temperature of water in the tank.
CONSTITUTION: By-pass pipe 13 directly connects main water pipe 1 to lower water tnak 8. Prior to the start of normal operation, valve V2 fitted on vertical pipe 2 is opened to the full, and also valve V1 fitted on by-pass 13 is opened to the full. The water inside water tank 8 is not frozen although the surface water is frozen. By operating pump 11, the water is sent to the plant side. The water becomes hot water when it passes the plant forming a part of the circulating system and returns to main water pipe 1, and thereby the frozen ice is melted.
