Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent undisposed sludge from entering the disposed sludge by lowering the sludge surface in the sludge supply header after the sludge supply to the freezing-melting disposer vessel has been completed.
CONSTITUTION: The sludge supplied from a sludge storing tank 6 to a sludge supply header 1 through a sludge distributing tube 8 is fed into a vessel via an opening 4. If the sludge supply is stopped with the sludge surface A surpassing the lower edge of the opening 4 and the sludge is subjected to a freezing-melting process in this condition, most part of sludge around the opening are not frozen. This unfrozen sludge is likely to mix into the sludge disposed by the freezing-melting process when the latter is discharged out of the vessel, which becomes an obstacle in separation of water therefrom. Then, if a pump 7 is operated in the reverse direction to feed back a part of the supplied sludge to the sludge storing tank 6, so that the sludge surface B in the sludge supply header 1 will be lower than the lower edge of the opening, the above defect can be solved.
