Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the title procedure for simultaneous removal of the solids and salts from a fuel oil, by mixing water and an emulsion breaker with a sludge- eliminated fuel oil followed by separating a pure fuel oil from a sludge and water.
CONSTITUTION: A raw fuel oil from which solid impurities of relatively large size have been eliminated in the tank 2 is drawn by a pump 5, being fed, through a pipe 10, to the first-stage centrifugal separator 1 to separate into a sludge and a crude fuel oil and discharge the sludge through a pipe 14. The crude fuel oil is mixed with an emulsion breaker and water supplied through pipes 15 and 12, respectively, to wash on stirring by a mixer 4, being separated into a pure fuel oil, a sludge and water. The pure fuel oil obtained is introduced through a pipe 11 to a storage tank, whereas the water and sludge are introduced, through pipes 13 and 14, respectively, to the next process for further treatment.
