Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a continuous supply of hot water for prevention of freezing through a natural convection even if a heat pump is halted by a method wherein a water heating heat exchanger is located on the upper part of a hot water storage tank. CONSTITUTION:A heat pump unit 2 is placed above a hot water storage tank 1 for unification. A heat pump cycle consists of a compressor 3, a water heating heat exchanger 4, a vaporizer 5, a restrictor 6, an accumulator 7 and a blower 8 for the vaporizer 5, all of which are kept in the heat pump unit 2. The water heating heat exchanger 4 causes a coolant delivered from the compressor 3 through a convection flow to be flowed from upper part to the lower part and water to be flowed from the lower part to the upper part, which, moreover, is of a trap free construction. Thus, a convection from the water heating heat exchanger 4 through a circulating pump 13, a duct 14, a hot water supply pipe 9 and a duct 15 to the water heating heat exchanger 4 is caused.
