Abstract
827,971. Cooling towers. COOLING TOWERS Ltd. March 14, 1957 [March 14, 1956], No. 7926/56. Class 64(1) A water cooling tower is provided with. means for the prevention of ice formation therein which comprise a circumferential conduit furnished with a plurality of apertures supplied with hot water under pressure and so arranged that the hot water is discharged in jets, streams or sprays across the air inlet. A cooling tower 1 has an air inlet 2 and main supply conduit 4. Disposed just below the air inlet is a circumferential conduit 6 to which hot water is supplied via the water main 9 and which directs spray 12 from apertures across the air inlet. The conduit 6 may be rotatable in a bracket 8 or may be embedded in the wall 7 of the cooling tower. Nozzles may be fitted to the aper-. tures. The conduit may also be formed in independent sections and the supply thereto controlled by valves. Specifications 582,449 and 704,965 are referred to.
