Abstract
704,490. Coke ovens. KOPPERS GES., H. Dec. 21, 1951 [Dec. 27, 1950], No. 30054/51. Classes 51 (1) and 51 (2) In a coke oven heated by rich gas, air for burning out deposits of graphite in the gas conduits and burner nozzles is supplied continuously at some distance inside each gas conduit 5 disposed horizontally below the oven floor 2, i.e. at a zone of the conduit hot enough to ignite the air-gas mixture, by a tube 8 extending through said conduit S and connected to a compressed air pipe 16 through a throttle 14 and shut-off valve 15. The invention is also applied to the rich gas conduits in an " under-jet coke oven, Fig. 2 (not shown).
