Classes 75 (3) and 75 (4) A lighting fitting has a lamp-carrying channel member 8 dismountably pivoted to a support member 1, arranged for mounting on a ceiling or like surface 2, by means of a hinge member 4 slidable in the.support member 1 and providing a single pivot P2 only for the channel member 8 when the latter is in an intermediate open position and a double pivot P1 and P2, when the channel member is in its fully open position, to allow the channel member to drop into a dependent position affording access to ancillary equipment thereon. As shown the hinge member 4 comprises a U-shaped stirrup the base of which is pivotally-secured to the channel member 8. and the ends P1 of which are outwardly bent and slidably received, together with the limbs of the stirrup, in a guide 3 secured to the support member. In the closed or intermediate open position the stirrup limbs and ends P1 are wholly within the guide 3 and the channel member 8 can pivot only about the stirrup base P2, to an extent limited by abutment of the edge 81 of the channel member with the support 1. When the stirrup limbs are withdrawn from the guide 3, the stirrup can pivot about its ends PI, still captive in the guide 3, to drop the channel member 8 and thereby allow further pivoting thereof about P2 until its edge 81 abuts the stirrup limbs. The channel member may be dismounted from the support 1 by manual squeezing of the stirrup limbs to disengage the ends PI from the guide 3.
