Abstract
574,290. Combined service hatch and table. MACTAGGART, M. Jan. 27, 1944, No. 1522. [Class 20 (iii)] [Also in Group XIV] A frame adapted to form a hatchway in a wall carries a platform adapted to be moved at will into positions forming a table on either side of the wall. As shown in Fig. 3, a frame 1 has pivotally mounted bracket arms 3, 3 and 4, 4 on which a platform 5 can be moved from one room to the other to form a table. The frame opening may be closed by a roller blind 2 housed in the upper part of the frame. In the form shown the bracket arms 4, 4 carry hinged flaps 6, 6 which can rest on further hinged brackets 7, 7 to form extensions of the table and which lie within the frame when not in use. A modification is shown in Fig. 8 in which an extended table portion 11 fitted with hinged legs 15 is hingedly connected to arms 12, 12, which are pivoted to the base of the frame 9 and are recessed or grooved to take platform 13 movable on the slideway 14 from one room to the other. The Provisional Specification refers to forms in which a continuous band of flexible material constitutes the movable platform between the two rooms or in which a shelf or a series of superimposed shelves, rotatable about a vertical axis, is used.
