Abstract

990,073. Lighting fittings. LIGHTOLIER Inc. June 12, 1962 [Aug. 11, 1961], No. 22525/62. Heading F4R. A lighting fitting comprises a housing having side walls 14 provided with support brackets 15, 15<SP>1</SP> with opposed channel portions 16 at the lower edges and a substantially rectangular translucent panel 27 having side pieces 29 at opposite edges, the upper edges of which have outwardly directed lips 34 engaging in the support brackets, one of which contains resilient means 41 pressing on the lip to move the panel towards a central position, means 47 being provided to limit the movement, and compression of the means 41 permitting movement of the panel until the lip 34 on the opposite side is clear of the channel 15<SP>1</SP>. To support the panel after removal, the upper edge of the side piece 29 has a thickened portion 31 in which is a channel 32 with a side opening 33 to receive a bead 55 supported by a flexible hanger 56. Holes may be formed in the lips 34 from which air forced into the casing can escape so that the fitting can be used as part of a ventilation system.
