Class 38 (1) A multi-conductor cable connector comprises an insulating ring 1 surrounding the cable 12 and having a plurality of slots 34 in its periphery, each slot receiving the bared bent-back end of one of the cable conductors 33 together with a metal strip 40 to which the conductor is soldered. A rubber seal 2 abuts the ring 1 and has circularly-arranged blind holes 11 receiving corresponding bosses on a rubber sleeve 3, the nylon or fabric braid of the cable being terminated by tieing strands thereof around the bosses and applying adhesive, whereby the braid is gripped between the parts 2, 3. A rigid shell 5 fits closely over the sleeve 3 and compresses the seal 2 and receives over its front end a rigid sleeve 7 held in position by screws 8 such that a plate 23 and a contactcarrying rubber cushion 22 are clamped between the end of the shell 5 and a counterbore within the sleeve 7. For each contact pin 21 the cushion 22 has a clearance bore and a boss 28 which freely extends through a hole in the plate 23. A metal tube 24 surrounds the end of the boss 28, to constrain it to grip the pin 21 inserted therein, the arrangement permitting axial movement of the pin by the force applied by a co-operating contact. due to stretching of that part of the boss not compressed by the tube 24. A flexible connection 10 connects each pin 21 with a strip 40. The sleeve 7 is screw threaded at 27 and carries a nut 9 whereby the connector may be coupled to a similar connector by the nut 9 of one co-operating with the thread 27 of the other, rims 26 on the cushions 22 ensuring a moisturetight seal, and the stepped formation of the opposed cushion faces ensuring correct engagement.
