Abstract
703,548. Photographic contact-printing frames. ROATH, R. Jan. 7, 1952 [Oct. 14. 1950; Oct. 23, 1950], Nos. 25100/50 and 25724/50. Class 98(2) A contact-printing frame comprises a base, an open-centred frame which is hinged to it near one end and which is provided on its inner face with a shallow recess surrounding the opening to accommodate a transparent sheet, a negative, and a sheet of printing paper or card and thus serving to border the print, a spring means fixed to the frame to hold the transparent sheet, negative, and printing material in the recess, and a pressure exerting means carried by the base and which is either resilient or resiliently mounted and adapted to fit within the recessed portion of the frame when this is closed on to the base. As shown, a frame 11 pivoted in the side arms 101 of a base 10 on which a receiving platen as of rubber or a plate 15 supported by recessed springs 16 and located by guide pins, has a rectangular aperture surrounded by a recess'in which a glass plate 18, a negative 19 and a photographic paper sheet 12 are located by a metal strip 131 carried by a leaf spring 13 on the frame and having ears adapted to seat in recesses in the frame, the negative, paper sheet, and glass plate seated in the recess in the frame being held by a turn button in the side opposite the spring. When the frame is raised, a block 141 on the back rest 14 protrudes through the frame aperture to move the plate 18 off its seating and raise the spring to facilitate removal of the negative and paper sheet. An L-shaped adaptor may be inserted in the frame if a smaller negative and printing sheet are used. The frame may be held against the base by a clip when the receiving platen fits within the aperture in the frame. The first Provisional Specification describes a similar frame from which the glass plate is omitted, while the second Provisional Specification states that a U-shaped clip may be hinged to the base for securing the frame against it.
