[Class 146 (i)] [Also in Group XVI] A device for printing addresses, identification numbers &c. comprises a printing plate 11 disposed on one side of a supporting member 10, the printing plate being retained in position by a back plate 12 disposed on the other side of the supporting member and having projections which pass through the member to engage the plate 11, the margin between the projections and the edges of the back plate underlying the member 10. As shown, the supporting member comprises a replaceable multipage record file 10 in which apertures 14, 16, 17, 18 are provided in a front sheet 13 so that lips 19, 21, ear pieces 23 and a retaining spring-lip 25 on the back plate 12 may project through the file to secure the printing plate 11. The printing plate slides horizontally into position between the channelforming lips 19, 21 until located by earpieces 23 engaging a recess in the printing plate, and lip 25 springs upwardly behind the rear edge of the printing plate to lock it in position. The projections are spaced inwardly of the back plate so that additional support is given to the weakened perforated portion of the record file. The lips 19, 21 are so positioned on the back plate that a slight flexure of the file is required during the assembly of the two parts, so that the back plate is thereby retained on the file by the lips 19, 21 when the file is flat.
