Abstract

703,488. Lining bottle caps. KORK-N-SEAL, Ltd. Feb. 12, 1952 [Feb. 12, 1951], No. 3352/51. Class 125 (3) In a machine for fixing lining discs or wads in bottle caps the caps are fed down an inclined shoot 11 so that the lowermost cap contacts an abutment 12 in a first locating position A on the work table 10 and is then pushed by a reciprocating plunger 13 along the abutment to a second position D where adhesive is applied to the interior end wall of the cap, this cap in moving to the second position pushing the preceding caps to further successive positions in one of which. F, wad applying means is located, the caps in the adhesive and wad applying positions being spaced apart by a further-cap and all the positions being in a straight line. The plunger 13 moves the caps successively from the first position A at right angles to the line of feed ABC to position D along an abutment plate 30, the caps being held at D by a spring pressed plate 31 slidably mounted in a recess in a housing 32 and at position F by a spring pressed plate 40 similar to plate 31 mounted in a block adjustable in distance from plate 31 the plates 31, 40 being chamfered as at 39 so that the caps can ride on the chamfer and repress the plate. The wads are stacked in a tube 90 and are fed by a feed plate 95 having a tongue 67 recessed at 66 to engage the lowermost wad which is supported on a plate 70 and then pressed into the cap by a presser foot 64.
