Abstract

702,965. Furniture combinations. BARNES, H. G. M. Oct. 13, 1952 [Oct. 17, 1951], No. 24170/51. Class 52(3) A chair convertible into a table comprises a legged underframe A and a top hinged thereto which in one position comprises the table top and in the other position comprises the chair back together with means for positively locking the back in either position. The top comprises a main portion B and two flaps C<SP>1</SP> C<SP>2</SP> hinged thereto, the flaps when the top is in chair position being adapted to be folded inwards to form struts to the main portion and to act as chair side wings. The flaps C<SP>1</SP>, C<SP>2</SP> are provided with catches D<SP>1</SP>, D<SP>2</SP> adapted to be engaged by catch plates and pawls E<SP>1</SP>, E<SP>2</SP> mounted on the underframe and operable by links J<SP>1</SP>, J<SP>2</SP>, J<SP>3</SP> disc H and trigger member F. In table position the main portion B is lockable to the underframe by a catch K which is releasable by the trigger member F while the flaps C<SP>1</SP>, C<SP>2</SP> may be held or supported in extended positions by slider rods N mounted on'the underframe.
