Class 123(1) [Also in Groups XIII and XXIX] A steam boiler, in the form of, for example, a cylindrical externally-finned drum A supported above a firebox B, is fitted with a spring-loaded safety valve F and a feedwater supply valve G, these valves being mounted in the wall of a chamber C projecting from an end wall A' of the boiler on opposite sides of an end E' of a pivoted lever E the other end of which is connected to an elongated float D. The end E' of the float lever has cam surfaces E<SP>2</SP>, E<SP>3</SP> adapted to mate with the valves F, G, respectively, in such manner that when the water in the boiler falls below a predetermined level the cam E<SP>3</SP> permits the feed valve G to open, a further fall causing the cam E<SP>2</SP> to act upon the valve F and, first, tend to lift it, thus reducing the pressure at which this valve will open, and, finally, lift it positively, so relieving the pressure within the boiler. The lever E may be extended to form, or otherwise be provided with, a level indicator J.
