Abstract

700,848. Lubricating. VOLPIN, A. S. July 25, 1952, No. 18883/52. Class 12(3) [Also in Group XXIX] In a gate valve each working face of the closure is provided with a circular groove 33 which, in the closed position of the valve, is in axial alignment with the corresponding seat and is supplied with lubricant from a reservoir 37 subject to the pressure of the controlled fluid. The lubricant in a reservoir is acted upon by a piston 38 the upper face of which is subject to pressure from the controlled fluid leaking into the gate chamber 6. A reservoir can be re-charged by means of a pump in the valve casing, the pump having a screwactuated piston and the lubricant being fed past a check valve to an inlet passage 54. The gate comprises two facing members urged apart by springs and formed with apertures 32 which form a part of the flow passage 5 when the valve is opened.
