Abstract

887,194. Valves. HYDRAULIK A.S. Feb. 5, 1958, No. 3753/58. Class 135. A pressure-responsive valve has an inlet closure formed by cylindrical port 141 and a larger cylindrical port 142 respectively tightly slidably fitting cylindrical openings 145, 144, port 141 having its opening before port 142 opens passage 144, means being provided to supply fluid to the face of port 142 to prevent a vacuum forming during opening. The pressure-responsive valve has an upper chamber 102 with a fluid outlet 83 and a pressure fluid inlet 80 and a lower chamber 103 having a fluid inlet 84 and outlet 85, and a cylinder 109 of smaller cross-sectional area than and in axial alignment with the first inlet, a valve member 111 having a first land 112 for closing the first inlet, a second intermediate land 114 for closing the opening 108 between the chambers and a third land forming a piston 115 in the cylinder 109, a bore 140 extending axially through the valve from the first to the third land, and an adjustable compression spring 119 urging the first land to close the first inlet and the second land to be spaced from the opening 108. Pressure from pump 2 controlled by valve 3 acts via 13 to drive a motor 10 connected on the same shaft as a motor 82 across the pipes 83, 84 to which the pressureresponsive valve is connected as a by-pass valve. With the valve open, motor 10 drives motor 82 as an unloaded pump circulating fluid through the open by-pass valve. When the load on motor 10 is sufficiently high the pressure in 13 acts via inlet 80 to move the small cylindrical port 141 down sufficiently until the pressure acts on the larger port 142 to quickly open the inlet and close the opening 108 so that pressure now drives the motor 82. Valve 114 closes opening 108 slightly before the inlet is fully opened. Suction at the shoulder between the two cylindrical portions 144, 145 is relieved by notches in the periphery of disc 142. Valve 114 is guided into opening 108 by recesses 147 on the lower face of the valve and the third land 115 is provided with a plug 148 forming a buffer with casing 109, 149.
