Abstract

1303430 Valves EDWARDS HIGH VACUUM INTERNATIONAL Ltd 8 June 1970 [12 June 1969] 29908/69 Heading F2V [Also in Division F1] A valve controlling the supply of oil via passages 38, 42 to a vacuum pump (see Division F1) comprises a cylinder 24 closed at one end by a flexible diaphragm 26 and connected to a chamber 54 of the pump, a reduction in pressure in the chamber 54 causing the diaphragm 26 to act on a spring loaded pin 28, 30 to restrict the flow of oil through passage 38. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the pressure responsive member is the pin head 28 which is mounted in an annular seal. In another arrangment, Fig. 4, a diaphragm 62 is connected to a valve member 66 which co-operates with an orifice 68. In a further modification the pressure responsive member is an aneroid capsule. Fig. 5 (not shown), which acts on the pin 28, 30.
