Abstract
699,841. Electric tests and measurements. BOWSER, Inc. Oct. 18, 1951 [Oct. 26, 1950], No. 24346/51. Class 37. In a fluid flow meter of the type described in Specification 695,425, wherein a liquid is passed through a magnetic field and the p.d. induced between two electrodes is an indication of the velocity of the liquid, the accuracy is improved by earthing the liquid in the pipes on either side of the meter. When the pipe lines are of conducting material, terminals 29-32 (Fig. 1) are assembled on the pipes 1, 3 and interconnected symmetrically by similar wires 33, 35. 'In a modification the couplings 2, 4 'between the feed pipes 1, and the meter tube 5 are brought under the cover 9 which is itself made of conducting material, and therefore equates the potential on either side of the meter. When the pipe lines are not made of conducting material, electrodes 55-58, Fig. 3, are provided in the feed pipes 51, 53 and individually earthed.
