A rotary flowmeter comprising a rotary indicator 7 driven by the fluid to be measured and coupled to a counter 10 includes upstream of the indicator an orifice plate comprising outer and inner coplanar rings 2, 3 in which the inner ring carries movable segments 4 adjustable from outside the flow meter body by means of a control shaft 6 to infinitely vary the crosssectional area of the orifice to correctly adjust the flow velocity of the flowing medium in accordance e.g., with its specific gravity, pressure &c.
