Abstract
699,279. Fog generators. TENNEY, W. L., KNOX, S. E., and FRANK, P. A. Nov. 30, 1951 [Dec. 26, 1950], No. 28137/51. Class 81 (i). [Also in Group XXIX] A fog generator for producing a suspension in a gas of finely divided liquid droplets comprises a pulse jet engine, the exhaust manifold of which forms a discharge tube 16 constructed as shown with an inlet nozzle 70 for the injection of fog-forming composition and a lower curved .portion 20 having a drain connexion 75 for removal of said composition should injection.thereof continue after stoppage of the engine. Fuel is supplied to the engine from tank 30 through conduit 31, selector valve 32, conduit 34, filter 35, float chamber 36 and conduit 11. The fogforming composition is supplied under pressure from a closed vessel 40 by means of gas pressure developed by operation of the engine itself. The pressure is transmitted by conduit 43, pressurizing valve 42 (shown in more detail in Fig. 2) and conduit 52. The composition is thus caused to discharge into tube 16 through conduit 61. manual shut-off valve 62, automatic shut-off valve 63, and nozzle 70. Valve 63 is connected to the combustion chamber 14 of the engine by conduit 64 and is normally intended to shut off the flow of composition immediately upon stoppage of the engine.
