Abstract

699,239. Anodes for preventing corrosion. HUGHES & CO., Ltd., F. A. June 18, 1951 [July 12, 1950; Nov. 17, 1950]. Nos. 17457/50 and 28149/50. Class 123 (i). An anode 10 for the protection of buried metallic structures, &c. comprises a solid elongated block which is made essentially of magnesium and is enclosed within a sheathing 12 of aluminium, or other metal or alloy more noble than the magnesium, with or without an interposed insulating layer of bitumen, &c., so that only one end thereof and, if desired, a minor part of its peripheral surface, is exposed. The anode may be cast, using the sheathing as a mould, and is provided with a steel terminal rod 11. Specifications 658,364 and 683,629 are referred to.
