Class 125(iii) A sealing cap has an external skirt 2 which fits over the neck 4 of a bottle and the bottom of the cap is formed into a cup 6 which on closing the bottle is deformed by the increased pressure of the air or gas inside the neck to press the wall 7 of the cup 6 against the neck 4, which action also causes contraction of the skirt 2. In order to prevent unauthorized removal of the cap, a thin diaphragm 10, Fig. 3, may be inserted into a chamfer 9 in the cap after the cap has been positioned on the neck, removal of the cap causing breakage of the diaphragm 10. In other modifications the skirt 2 is extended by a band having tearing pieces thereon or the cap has a cover provided with such a band.
