987,398. Stoppers. WICANDERS (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd. Feb. 2, 1962 [Nov. 16, 1960], No. 39402/60. Heading B8T. A replaceable bottle closure, e.g. of polythene, has a milled skirt 2 with a bead 3 for engaging around the bottle neck, and a plug portion 5 with a flat base 5 and a lower wall 7 of greater thickness than that of an upper wall 6. Sealing fins 8 for engaging the bottle neck interior are provided. An increase in pressure within the bottle causes the plug to decrease in length and provide an improved sealing. In a modification, instead of fins, a slot 9 provides plug flexibility.
