Abstract

1,183,368. Container closures. M. WEBER. 25 April, 1967 [26 April, 1966], No. 18976/67. Heading B8T. A resilient lid I for a container 8 has a dome that incorporates a one-way valve and may be reciprocated when the lid is sealed on to the container to make a partial vacuum. The valve consists of holes 15 covered by a flexible diaphragm 16. The lid thickness is tapered at 3 to form a hinge for the reciprocating action. An inner flange 9 seals against the container wall at 10. The lid may be put on when hot so that the flange 2 shrinks to an air-tight fit.
