Abstract
Solid shades are obtained on mixed yarns, fabrics and the like containing carbonized wool and cellulose fibres by dyeing the wool with an acid or neutral wool dye and the cellulose with a direct cotton dye, by the single bath or two-bath method, the dyeing of the cellulose fibres being carried out in the presence of hexamethylenetetramine. The amount of hexamethylenetetramine used is about 5 per cent by weight of the material being dyed. The wool is not coloured by the direct cotton dyestuff under these conditions. An example is given in which a yarn containing carbonized wool and viscose rayon staple is dyed a solid pink by means of a bath containing Chlorazol Pink BKS, Carbolan Crimson BS, hexamethylenetetramine and Glaubers salt.
