697.934. Automatic firearms. VERWALTUNGSGES. DER WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON. Aug. 8. 1951 [Aug. 23, 1950], No. 18723/51. Class 92(ii) Relates to automatic firearms having a plurality of breech chambers in a rotary drum 3, the latter being rotated to bring the chambers successively into line with the barrel 1 by the engagement of rollers 7 on the drum with curved grooves 5, 6, in a gas-operated slide 4. According to the invention the curved groove 6 which the rollers pass during the forward movement of the slide is fitted with a stop piece 9 which prevents the rollers re-entering the groove once they have left it. The stop pieces may be stationary as shown or they may be in the form of spring-controlled pivoted members. The slide shown is driven to the rear by a gas piston 8 against the action of springs 13, its groove 5 serving to impart a degree of rotation to the drum. On the return stroke, the next roller 7 is engaged by the groove 6, and during this stroke a lug 17 on an extension 14 of the slide moves a round from a feed wheel 15 partially towards a chamber in the drum 3, while a further lug 18 moves the previous partially fed round fully into another chamber.
