Abstract

697,916. Automatic feed weighers. SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE-GES. Dec. 4, 1950, No. 29582/50. Class 143 [Also in Group XXX] In an automatic feed weigher, material is fed directly to a receptacle B by a screw conveyer 4 which is driven by an electric motor 8 and which, on movement of the scale 11 due to the charge in the receptacle B attaining a predetermined weight, is positively braked to produce a sharp cut off. This braking is effected by automatically de-energizing and short-circuiting the motor. A second screw conveyer 6 carries material from a hopper outlet 7 to the feeding chamber 3 in which a constant level is maintained by a pair of diaphragm switches 13, 14 controlling a motor 9 driving screw 6. A sieve 10 sifts material leaving the screw. The receptacle B is moved on to the scale 11 either automatically or by hand, and a detector 12 or pedal-operated switch (not shown) initiates feeding.
