Abstract
697,795. Magnetic couplings. TRIST & CO., Ltd.,R. June 8, 1951 [June 15, 1950], No. 14986/50. Class 35. [Also in Group XXIX] A magnetically-operated device comprises a driving magnet, a driven magnet arranged to follow the first magnet from which it is separated by a partition and a valve member which is directly connected to the driven magnet and which controls the flow of fluid to a pressuresensitive member. A float 4 is linked with a driving magnet 5 and a vane 20 is connected to a driven magnet 6, the adjacent ends of the magnets 5, 6 being of opposite polarity. When the water level in a boiler is altered, the driving magnet 5 is moved by the float 4, and in turn the vane 20 is correspondingly rocked by the driven magnet 6. The vane 20 controls, openings 27, 28 of passages 25, 26 through which compressed air is conducted from an airsupply line 30. The compressed air, in turn, controls a piston-operated valve 1 in the boiler feed water pipe.
