Abstract
688,836. Float-actuated valves. CECIL, V. A. G. May 7, 1951 [Feb. 6, 1950], No. 3049/50. Class 135. An animal drinking apparatus comprises individual drinking bowls, each bowl 7 being connected by a duct 13 to an integral chamber 8 of smaller crosssectional area than the bowl. Each chamber 8 houses a float 16 whose upper face engages the end 20 of a lever 19 pivoted on a protecting cover 17 and mounting a valve member 21 controlling the flow of water through a branch pipe 10 from a cistern 23 supplied from the main 24 through the usual ball-actuated supply valve. The cistern may be used for supplying any number of drinking bowls through their respective branch pipes. Alternatively, the branch pipes 10 may be connected directly to the main whence each branch is provided with a valve controlled by its associated float to shut off against mains pressure.
