Abstract
697,735. Pipe couplings; supporting pipes. ZAVALLONI, B., and VALDUCCI, F. Sept. 3, 1951 [Sept. 4, 1950], No. 21768/50. Classes 99 (i) and 99 (ii). A readily-detachable, flexible coupling comprises a sleeve 1, secured to the pipe 2, and having an expanded socket portion 3 carrying a lug 10, which is engaged by a link 11 loosely mounted in a bracket 12 secured to the pipe 5. A rubber sealing ring comprises a bead 8 located in a recess 6 at the mouth of the socket, and a skirt 8a folded back through the bead. The skirt tapers slightly so as to be expanded by the pipe 5. Before assembly of the ring 8 in. the socket the sleeve 1 is secured to the pipe 2 by rolling a sealing ring 7 from the recess 6 on to the plain end of the pipe by means of backward and forward movements of the sleeve. The pipe is then flared and grooved at 2a and 17 by an expanding tool. Pipe supports 16 are provided on the sleeve and on the bracket 12.
