Abstract

697,206. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. Nov. 26, 1951 [Nov. 27, 1950], No. 27690/51. Class 35. Dynamo-electric machine has a centrifugal fan 3 surrounded by a fixed diffuser having blades 1 with surfaces which make an acute angle with the longitudinally tangential plane of the fan, the outlet edges of the diffuser blades having curvatures to direct, axially the air. Fig. 2 shows S-shaped blades 1 of a diffuser in which the blade surface above the discharge opening of the fan forms an acute angle B with the longitudinally tangential plane of the fan. The curvatures of the outlet edges of the blades 1 deflect the cooling air in an axial direction. In a modification, Fig. 4, the S-shape blades 1 of the diffuser are arranged alternately in opposite direction so that the air emerges simultaneously in both axial directions independently of the direction of rotation of the machine.
