Abstract

697,151. Electric indicator. LAZZARI, M. G. Jan. 11, 1952, No. 960/52. Class 40 (i). In a push-button actuated call bell system, a two-way selector is provided and, when the callbell is out of service, is set so that the call-bell is cut out and depression of the push-button lights a lamp to illuminate a dial indicating the time at which it will again be in service. When the pushbutton 14 is depressed against the biasing spring contact 16 a metal collar 15' on the button engages the front face of a contact disc 11 secured to a collar 9. The front face of the disc 15 is conducting except for a narrow insulating segment 21 of angular width equal to the width of a contact spring 18. The rear face of the disc has a conducting portion 22 equal in angular width to that of the insulating portion 21, the remainder of the rear face being insulating. Normally, the two portions 21, 22 are aligned with the respective contacts 18, 17, so that when the button 14 is depressed the circuit to the call-bell 19 is made over contacts 16, 17. To put the call-bell out of service the collar 9 is rotated by means of a key, Fig. 2 (not shown) to a position where a transparent disc 7 rigid with the collar indicates through a window 2 in the casing 1, the hour at which the call-bell will be brought back into service. At the same time a further " minutes " disc 8, carried by a collar 10, is independently adjusted corresponding to the hour disc 7. The contact disc 11, which rotates with the collar 9, is now in a position such that depression of the pushbutton 14 completes the circuit of a lamp 20 over contacts 16, 18 to illuminate the time indication on the disc 7, 8 displayed at the window 2. A blank indication is displayed at the window when the call-bell is operative. Cylindrical indicators may be used in lieu of discs.
