879,468. Locking switches; hand actuating devices for switches. TELEFUNKEN G.m.b.H. Jan. 28, 1958 [Jan. 30, 1957], No. 2756/58. Class 38 (5). [Also in Groups XXIV and XL (c)] A rotatable knob comprises a disc 4 having a peripheral tongue 6 which can serve as a locking member to prevent rotation of the disc. The knob of a combined on/off switch and volume control for a portable receiver is housed inside a casing 2 such that a proportion of it projects into a slot 3 in the casing. The disc 4 is provided with a slot 5 which is substantially concentric with, and close to, the periphery of the disc and which opens into the periphery to form a tongue 6. The free end of the tongue has an additional portion 7 which can be manually depressed to disengage the disc from the stop 8 formed by the edge of the slot 3, thus allowing the disc to be rotated.
