Abstract

995,378. Snap-action switches. M. B. METALS Ltd. April 30, 1963 [Feb. 28, 1962], No. 7801/62. Heading H2B. In a push-push electric switch, when a push button 14, enclosing a lamp 17, is depressed, a rockable pin 51 engages a guide surface 43 in a dolly 40 and rotates the dolly, thus snapping over a stirrup 44 pivoted in the casing, to bridge a pair of contacts 37. At the same time, the pin 51 engages a contact 55 to close a circuit to an indicator. When the push button is released, contacts 37 remain bridged but the contacts 51, 55 disengage, and on a second depression of the button, the pin 51 engages guide surface 42 and returns the dolly 40 and stirrup 44 to their original position. The dolly 40 has a finger 47 which engages a cup 46 connected to one end of a spring 45, the other end being attached to the stirrup 44 to provide the snap-action. A spring 49 returns the push button 14, which may be transparent or translucent, to its unoperative position.
