Abstract

774,735. Clocks. SMITH & SONS (ENGLAND), Ltd., S. Feb. 15, 1956 [Feb. 15, 1955], No. 4479/55. Class 139. An alarm clock is provided with a tell-tale lamp 9, Fig. 1, the illumination of which is controlled by switching means to indicate whether or not the alarm has been set. As applied to an electric alarm clock the switch means comprises a fixed contact member 16, 17, Fig. 2, and a movable contact member 21, 22 controlled by the alarm setting plunger 7. A dropping resistor 14 is connected to the neon bulb which may be in series or in parallel with the switching means so that closure of the switching means by the plunger 7 either effects lighting or extinguishing of the lamp 9. The light from the lamp is transmitted from the clock casing by light transmitting element 12, 13 or through an opening in the clock face or through a glass ring surrounding the dial.
