[Also in Groups XXIII and XXXII] A pipe-cutting and threading device comprises an axially adjustable pipe-holder 4, Fig. 10, and a transversely adjustable slide carrying a rotary thread-milling tool 8 and a saw 9. The chuck 4 is rotated by a handwheel 5 and advanced by a cam 11 engaged by a projection 13 which can be withdrawn when the device is used for pipe-cutting. The cam 11 rotates slightly more slowly than the chuck 4 to ensure the cutting of a complete thread. Before a threading operation is commenced a stepped member 17, Fig. 5, is set to limit the movement of the cutter-slide and hence the depth of cut. Two sets of steps 18, 19 are provided to allow threads of two different pitches to be cut. A member 23 and a pin 21 therein are adjustable to compensate for cutter wear. A pipe length to be cut off is supported, during cutting, by members 27 ... 29. In a modification, the pipe is rotated during traverse by engaging either of two differently-pitched threaded members 32a, 32b, Fig. 7, by a lever 33. The cutter-spindle may be mounted for angular adjustment. The device may be supported either on a frame with carrying handles or a wheeled frame having an adjustable track, an outboard pipe support, and a towing attachment.
